If hormone metabolism is the cause and this resonates with anyone else, here is a path to at least try. Long post, but I figured that the context can be helpful to compare migraine experiences. It isn't as negatively impactful on my mood, and I think it is doing the trick for the migraines. Between this and the ubrelvy, I haven't been debilitated by a migraine in two months or so. I think the DIM-3 is holding the line on the migraine frequency. Stopped the nortriptyline about a week ago and I'm just coming to the end (I hope) of crappy feelings from brain chemistry changes. So smart me, I'm just realizing that I've never tried the DIM-3 on its own. Winning, right?Įxcept 4 months on the nortriptyline has me gaining so much weight that I can't fit into my pre-pandemic work clothes. I've been a couple of months with the dramatically reduced number of migraines. I also ordered the good DIM-3 from that same pharmacy and had it shipped across the country. The theory being that this old school antidepressant calms the nerves in the migraine down. New neurologist stops the botox, puts me on nortriptyline 10 mg. I'd tried cheaper DIM3, then given up on the DIM-3 entirely. Side note, taking two of these pills had me PMS grumpy all the time. I thought it was the botox and didn't buy the expensive, proprietary blend of the DIM-3 once I ran out. Still a promise on the first day of my cycle, still one more a month, but a lot better. And then my migraines went way down in frequency. I finally got home, and ramped up the DIM-3 over a week or so and went to a previously-scheduled appointment for botox for the first time. He handed me the bottle, warned that I should start with one pill instead of two and work my way up, because metabolizing the estrogen out can make you feel worse, and they sent me on my way. I was thinking they would be stocked with herbs and twigs, and there is no kinda desperate like the early stages of a migraine spiral in a different city, knowing that you are 10 hours and a thousand miles from your bed.įive minute conversation with the pharmacist, described how the migraines feel and how they start. I had the rental car and drove past a compounding pharmacy and stopped on a whim. If you've never flown on a migraine, don't try it if you can help it. On the day I was flying home, I was in a migraine. So I was out of town on a week long committee thing for work. I guess I'm lucky in how much I hate taking percoset. For a while, I was on opiates as a rescue because nothing was helping, and even percoset only helped me sleep through the pain. Daith piercing didn't help but looks cool. Topomax would have been great - I loved that sugar tasted awful - except I couldn't think or complete a sentence. They make my skin hurt in ways I can't explain. With no intervention, I'm thinking about, having, or on the migraine hangover all. Also pretty reasonable to expect one after drinking, with not enough food or too much sugar, too much physical exertion, not enough sleep, ovulation. I'm guaranteed a migraine on the first or second day of my cycle. Summary: compounding pharmacist said that I wasn't metabolizing estrogen correctly, handed me a bottle of DIMension-3 from a nutricutical company called xymogen, and I suspect it is the thing that is bringing down the number of migraines I am experiencing.įamily history with migraines, started when I hit puberty, worsened as I've gotten older.
